The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission invites you to come to Eureka’s Sequoia Park for the first 2016 Movies in the Park outdoor movie screening. The free event starts at 7:00 p.m. with a DJ, continues with Loony Toons cartoons, and the feature film starting at dusk, around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 at 3550 W Street in Eureka. Continuing the celebration of 100 years of film making in the Redwood Region, The Lost World:Jurassic Park, which features filming locations in Humboldt and Del Norte counties, will be the first film, in the fourth season, of this community event series. In the film, John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) summons chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to his home with some startling information -- while nearly everything at his Jurassic Park had been destroyed, his engineers happened to have a second site, where other dinosaurs were kept in hiding. It seems the dinosaurs on the second island are alive and well and even breeding; and Hammond wants Malcolm to observe and document the reptiles before Hammond's financiers can get to them. The public is encouraged dress warmly and arrive starting at 7:00 p.m. to enjoy music provided by a DJ and find a place on the lawn for blankets and lawn chairs. Popcorn, candy, and refreshments will be available by small donation. There will be an information table set up on site with Film Commission volunteers collecting donations and answering questions about the organization’s mission, services offered and film in the Redwood Region. The Film Commission would like to thank its community sponsors: Redwood Capital Bank, Provident Credit Union, Pierson Building Center, Surfside Burger Shack, Simply Macintosh, Harper Ford, Siren’s Song Tavern, Mazzotti’s Arcata, Red Lion Inn Eureka, Living the Dream Ice Cream, Humboldt Motorsports, House and Garden Nutrient, Humboldt Republic Clothing, Arcata Stationers/Pacific Paper, Fin N’ Feather, Ramone’s Bakery, Revolution Bicycle, Juniper Salon, Stonesthrow Boutique, Shipwreck, Black Lightning Motorcycle Cafe, Humboldt Cider Company, The Local Beer Bar, Bittersweet Arcata, Pacific Outfitters, Cafe Nooner, Toy Box, The NorthCoast Journal, Old Town Coffee and Chocolate, and the Northcoast Co-op.
