Check out November's Local Filmmaker's Night

Eureka, CA - On Thursday, November 14th, Local Filmmakers Night series will be featuring the works of  Montel Vander Horck, HSU graduate, co-owner of Mercy Me Productions, and digital media professor at College of the Redwoods. The evening's title, "Plays Well with Others," is inspired by Vander Horck's love for teamwork and rooted in his theater background.

"I love working with others in a troupe dynamic," said Vander Horck. "I love that everyone can come together and elevate a project beyond the sum of its parts." Vander Horck graduated from HSU in 2006 with Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Film and Dance, went on to a career of film production and founded Mercy Me Productions in 2008 with a fellow HSU graduate, Sean Wilson.

In the past few years, Vander Horck partnered with other filmmakers on a variety of projects from the award winning short Leftshoe the Bunny Slipper, to Where There's Smoke, a feature-length film about wildland firefighters that has been showing on the documentary channel since 2009. His latest local collaborations include Crabs' Commercials, The Wine of Summer, Love in the time of Monsters, Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes, Kinetic Glory, and the California Environmental Legacy Project.
